Bio: 
David Ballantyne is an Associate Professor in the School of Physics and the Center for Relativistic Astrophysics. Prof. Ballantyne received his Ph.D. in Astronomy in 2002 from the University of Cambridge in the U.K. He went on to win postdoctoral fellowships at the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics in Toronto (2002-2005) and the University of Arizona in Tucson (2005-2008). He arrived at Georgia Tech to help launch the Center for Relativistic Astrophysics in August 2008, and was promoted to Associate Professor (with tenure) in March 2014. Hailing originally from Vancouver, Prof. Ballantyne also holds a B.Sc. in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Victoria, and a M.Sc. in Astronomy and Physics from the University of Toronto.
